Helping Kids Thrive with Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Kami!

I’m Kami (she/her), a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist supporting toddlers to teenagers in clinical, home, and school settings. I focus on kids ages 1–7 and specialize in speech and language delays, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy), Gestalt Language Processing (scripting or echolalia), and Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC). My sessions are neurodiversity-affirming and play-based. I love collaborating with families, especially on using AAC tools like speech devices and supporting bilingual language development.

Why I love what I do:

I love helping people understand each other better. Through speech-language therapy, I help kids speak more clearly and I help caregivers listen, and witnessing loved ones connect with each other is priceless.

Why I’m passionate about in-home care:

I'm excited about in-home therapy because it allows me to collaborate closely with families, support children in their natural environment, and help families incorporate communication strategies into their daily routines without the stress of traveling to appointments.

What Does a Speech Therapist Do?

Speech-language pathologists (also known as speech therapists or SLPs) help kids communicate—whether they’re late to talk, hard to understand, or struggling to express themselves. They also support kids with feeding, swallowing, and social interaction. SLPs focus on:

Speech sounds – helping kids say words clearly so others can understand them
Language development – building vocabulary, following directions, and expressing ideas
Social skills – learning how to have conversations, ask questions, advocate for their needs, and take turns
Stuttering – supporting smoother, more confident speech
Feeding and swallowing – helping with picky eating, chewing, swallowing challenges, and texture sensitivities

Speech-language therapy gives kids the tools to express themselves and connect with the people around them—at home, in school, and in the world.

How my practice is special

one
Personalized Care

Children learn best through play, and they tend to enjoy playing with things they're interested in. I regularly note what does and does not interest my clients, and I customize my therapy sessions based on those interests. This helps me build deeper connections with my clients, and it supports communication — most people like to talk about the things they enjoy!

two
Leading with Respect

My patient, gentle manner and the full attention I give my clients makes them feel safe and seen. I take children seriously; I know what may seem like a small issue to adults often feels huge to kids, and I listen, respond, and act in a way that honors those very real feelings. I am excellent at developing rapport, and children tend to trust me.

three
Progress Through Play

I love to PLAY. I get to do things like use silly voices while singing nursery rhymes and pretend with stuffed animals. There is a lot of laughter, joy, and fun in my work, and I'm so grateful for that. When kids are engaged and having fun, they're more motivated to try new sounds, practice communication skills, and take risks with their language.
